Hello! I’m back with a new review request. I’m sorry that I’ve been a little quiet but I’ve had a lot going on lately as I’ve just brought home a new little puppy! As you can imagine he’s been keeping me busy but I’ve still managed to get some reading sorted. So today’s review is for Hypo Full of Love by Emma Kimble-Maerki. Hypo Full of Love is a YA novel with hints of romance and provides a story that represents the LGBT community. Emma has taken to writing stories that represents the LGBT community as she struggled to find many already out there. I’ll include a little synopsis of what to expect from this read:
Hypo Full of Love is a queer romance focusing on two men coming into their own. They must navigate addiction, college, and plain old growing up.
Danny and Kevin have known each other since they were kids. Kevin’s brother is Danny’s best friend, but until now they didn’t really spend time getting to know each other. Then one night Danny kisses Kevin and both their lives change drastically. From then on they are undeniably linked as they go through some of the hardest times of their lives together.
I’ve got to say it’s very refreshing to read a book with representation of the LGBT community. You don’t see many about in mainstream popular books. So that made it nice to read, straight away. It’s a nice short and snappy book that is so easy to read and get drawn into.
Emma has created some very beautiful and charismatic characters. Their relationships and depth of detail really brings them to life on the page and you cannot help but love them. The way they progress and grow throughout the book really helps you root for them in the story as well and keeps your attention gripped to the pages all the way throughout.
All in all, I would definitely recommend Hypo Full of Love. It was a surprising read for me because, as you know I usually struggle to get on with romance stories, but I did really like this. I feel like most people would enjoy it. It’s very inclusive and as I said earlier, very easy to read.
