Review of Endless Anger (Monsters Within, #1)

As someone who thrives on restless excitement for a good book, Endless Anger by Sav Miller completely took me by surprise—in the best way possible! Having waited for this release since its initial tease in 2023, my expectations were already sky-high. Thankfully, this book not only met them but soared right past, leaving me breathless and utterly giddy. Can we just say it together? We’re so back, baby! 🤩

From the very first page, Endless Anger immerses us in a world that feels familiar yet exhilaratingly fresh. This is the start of a new series, but for fans of the Monsters and Muses universe, it’s like reuniting with family. Though you don’t have to read the previous books to dive in, I highly recommend it. Knowing the intricacies of the past enhances the experience tenfold. Seeing our beloved characters now as parents and witnessing their children navigate the same challenges was heartwarming, to say the least.

Sav Miller’s world-building is nothing short of masterful. The universe feels rich and layered, every detail painstakingly woven into an intricate tapestry. Miller’s writing allowed me to live in this world—breathing the same air as characters, feeling their emotions like they were my own. I couldn’t put the book down!

And then we have the protagonists, Asher Anderson and Lucy Wolfe, whose chemistry practically leaps off the page. Their journey from childhood friends to something much deeper is relatable and captivating. Asher’s unshakeable obsession with Lucy is palpable, reminiscent of those teenage crushes that feel all-encompassing. I loved how their story was full of youthful misunderstandings, with moments of nostalgia that had me rooting for them from the very beginning. When Lucy heads off to Avernia College, things only intensify, and Asher’s rather unhinged decision to follow her as an RA perfectly encapsulates the trope of “obsessed but lovable.”

The setting of Avernia College is another character in itself—dark, brooding, and steeped in mystery. Secrets loom large in this story, especially with the family curse hanging over the Anderson children. The eerie atmospheres created by Sav Miller had me sleeping with a light on after I put the book down.

Let’s not forget the side characters! Foxe, with his charm and golden retriever energy, has officially stolen my heart. My excitement for his potential storyline is through the roof! The banter and dynamic among the side characters added layers of laughter and intrigue, perfectly balancing the darker themes of the story.

It’s worth noting that while I adored this book, there were emotional chapters toward the end that hit me hard. I won’t spoil anything, but let’s just say, I teared up—a testament to how invested I became in these characters’ fates.

Sav Miller has cemented her status as a must-read author for me. Endless Anger is an exhilarating rollercoaster of emotions that blends dark academia with romance beautifully. If you enjoy themes of childhood friends turning into lovers, eerie college settings, and tales steeped in family curses, this book may just find a cherished spot on your shelf.

All in all, I’m left eagerly awaiting the next installment in the series! If it’s anything like this first outing, it’s sure to be memorable. Happy reading! 🌟
