Book Review: North (Pittsburgh Titans, #16) by Sawyer Bennett

Wow, where has the time gone? It feels like just yesterday I was diving into the first installment of the Pittsburgh Titans series, and now we’re at book 16 with "North." Sawyer Bennett has woven a rich tapestry of love, friendship, and personal growth throughout this series, and I was eager to see how it all unfolds for one of the last single Titans, North.

The emotional landscape of "North" drew me in from the start. Here’s a guy who’s been surrounded by happy couples, and you can feel the weight of his longing for a similar kind of connection. Enter Farren, the feisty sister of North’s teammate, Rafferty. She shows up unexpectedly, ready to shake things up in both their lives. The steamy history they share adds immediate tension, and I enjoyed how Bennett navigates the complexities of their friends-with-benefits setup—North yearns for more, while Farren sets the boundaries.

What I appreciated about the book was the deep emotional layers Bennett crafts. Farren is running from something, but her reluctance to share her past makes every interaction fraught with tension and possibility. The scenes where Farren cares for North when he falls ill were especially poignant. Watching her step into a nurturing role, despite her insistence on not wanting a relationship, reveals so much about her character and what she’s truly capable of.

The pacing of the story felt just right—the moments of tension balanced beautifully with bursts of humor and levity. The climactic moments, especially when she finally opens up to Rafferty, were emotionally charged. Bennett manages to slip in heart-wrenching conversations amidst the chaos that unfold throughout North and Farren’s relationship.

And oh boy, the ending! It had me laughing out loud. For a book that delves into some heavy themes, that comedic relief was a breath of fresh air. I truly appreciated how Bennett expertly balanced intensity with light-heartedness.

Let’s not forget the narration—Stephen Dexter and Savannah Peachwood brought the characters vividly to life. Dexter’s smooth voice paired nicely with Peachwood’s charming delivery, allowing me to immerse myself completely into the story. Their chemistry as narrators mirrored that of North and Farren, enhancing the overall experience for me.

I would recommend "North" to anyone who enjoys a well-crafted contemporary romance that juggles humor and heart so effortlessly. If you’ve followed the Pittsburgh Titans from the beginning, this installment brings a satisfying closure to a long journey while also leaving you excited for what’s next.

Reading "North" not only brought nostalgia for the earlier books but also offered a compelling exploration of vulnerability and love. This book is a testament to Sawyer Bennett’s skill as a storyteller, and I can’t wait to see where she takes us next!
